The Abstract Silver Table Top Sculpture by Adrian Ashley.
One of a kind, platinum-plated, solid silver sculpture with an area of parcel-gilt. Made in the UK.
The design of this piece was inspired by organic structural systems found in forms both living and fossilized.
This unique, solid Sterling Silver sculpture is supplied with oxidised silver and ceramic plinth (the plinth is removable - and not included in the dimensions stated). Without its plinth, this piece measures 8.6cm (a little under three and a half inches). It weighs 58.5g and has been cast solid silver. The silver has been platinum-plated, with an area of parcel-gilt.
This piece can be removed from the oxidised silver plinth it is supplied on so that the implausible weight of the precious metal and tactile qualities of the sculpture can be explored to help relieve stress or inspire positive thought.
This work is robust and small enough to be transported in a pocket or bag. It could even be worn on a ribbon or cord as a very elaborate piece of contemporary jewellery.
I have worked for most of my life in the jewellery trade and am now using the skills I have acquired to construct sculptures.
Although most traditional jewellery is not strictly utilitarian, it still has the constraints associated with being displayed on the human body. With this work I am releasing the precious materials I’m familiar with from such restraints and recognizing them as a suitable medium to create fine art.

Adrian Ashley is a classically trained goldsmith who has been working as a sculptor in the jewellery industry for over thirty years. And is renowned for his unique and theatrical jewellery designs.
