Denmark based, Vincent Chaisy’ created Black Rock Jewel, a unique, exclusively male jewellery line for the urban man. Desperate for men’s jewellery for himself, Vincent fell into the jewellery business by accident after realising his passion was not unlike other men who wanted the same as him.
Vincent draws inspiration from the eroded, carved stones and wood found on his local coastline. He combines their striking aesthetics with elements of the urban landscape to create distinctive pieces made exclusively for men. Vincent and his team retain and enjoy having total control throughout the creation process and ensure every step is entirely ethical and sustainable.
The family run business spread its core values throughout their handcrafted pieces. The collections feature a range of rings and cuffs, with dark silvers and gemstones giving a edgy and bold look.
How did your brand begin?
It all started because I lacked some cool men's jewellery on the market for myself. I wanted to have some really unique jewellery, produced locally in a sustainable way, far away from all the mass-produced stuff in the stores - but at a good price and in really high quality. And there BRJ was born!
When did you first fall in love with jewellery and knew you wanted to become a designer?
As I couldn't find the rough cool designs that I was searching for, I designed the first line only for myself. But soon I understood I wasn't alone since people started to buy things directly from my hands! Somewhere there I became a designer…
Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?
We have 3 cornerstones that represent our heritage and story, that are present in everything we do and in every single detail: Scandinavian, Attitude and Quality. That is where we come from and that is our DNA.
Where do you get inspiration for your designs?
The local coast line, just outside Copenhagen, is a great inspiration source for us. There we find eroded and rough designs, carved in stones and woods. This we mix with the urban landscape, because that is where our other half of heart is.
How is your jewellery made?
Local craftsmanship is our mantra, so of course our unique line of jewellery is made locally in Copenhagen, from our studio and showroom in the very heart of the city and the casting workshop just some blocks away.
How do you ensure your jewellery is ethical and sustainable?
Local is what we believe in! Since we are doing the entire process, from sketch to the final touch, we have 100% control that it is ethical and sustainable. It's all handmade locally and we always only use the very best silver and stones.
If you could only wear one piece from your collection, what would it be and why?
Personally, I love to wear our new Amber line. They are so representative for our brand and really stands out in the crowd and I just love the way they get attention, wherever I go! So, yes, it would definitely be a piece from that line.
If you hadn't become a designer, what would you be doing?
Well, that is difficult, but definitely something within craftsmanship. Taking care of the details is a true passion of mine.
If you could travel to one place in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Tokyo for the fish market - best sashimi in the world!
What music do you play in the studio whilst you’re working?
Hip Hop Non-Stop!
