At age 44, after her career in biology and chemistry, Christiane Bekk, the Designer of Goldspindel, had an opportunity to fulfill her long-cherished wish - becoming a Goldsmith creative.
Christiane often takes inspiration from nature, she said: “I love floral designs as well as round, soft, and well-defined shapes. Even the patterns of wind, sand, and water can inspire me.”
Christiane's designs have an enduring quality that brings everlasting joy. She combines traditional goldsmith's technique and artistic approaches, featuring extraordinary materials such as recycled gold and high-quality gemstones, in her collections.
Her goal is to create "favourite pieces" with long-lasting beauty and value that accompany the wearers for decades.
Let's take a look at some of her extraordinary designs.
How did your brand begin?
I studied biology and chemistry at University, ending with a PhD in environmental chemistry. Years later I was given the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dream: I found a teacher who took me on a private apprenticeship. They taught me how to handcraft fine, high-quality jewellery.

Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?
My aim is to produce hand made jewellery with selected materials (recycled gold, high quality gemstones from small companies) to create unique pieces of enduring quality and long-lasting joy. This perfectly fits my clients.
Where do you get inspiration for your designs?
Nature is my inspiration, so I love floral designs as well as all round, soft and well-defined shapes. Even the pattern of wind and sand, water and all kinds of plants may inspire me. I create female designs for women who dearly love their femaleness.
Perfect Sunset Necklace | £4,497.00
How is your jewellery made?
All my pieces are handcrafted in traditional manual goldsmith's art. The only pre-produced pieces I use are chains (product sold by meter), snap-hooks, chokers and systems for earrings. Every piece is individual crafted, unique, and one-of-a-kind.
Diamond Bindweed With Tsavorite Ring | £3,537.00
How do you source your materials and gemstones?
I source my Gemstones primarily through small local trading companies which I have had a long relationship with. I mainly use recycled gold/silver- some of it from my clients. I offer to buy their old jewellery. Jewellery they don't like anymore.
How do you ensure your jewellery is ethical and sustainable?
Recycling. I recycle white, rose, lots of yellow gold, Sterling silver and the fine gold/fine silver I get from my supplier. 900-gold I normally alloy myself. For stones I have trustworthy local traders, who provide natural, not technical treated gemstones.
How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewellery?
My heartfelt wish is to provide pieces of jewellery that are the wearers friends. My jewellery is made for women who dearly love their femaleness. It's meant to emphasise their personality in any way possible and be a piece of comfort.
Starlight Band | £3,484.00
If you hadn't become a designer, what would you be doing?
Goldsmithing is my second profession. Without that, I probably would care for my family or I would have gone back into natural science.
What drew you to JewelStreet?
