Renowned for her Surrealist and abstract artwork that will bring an atmosphere of hope and happiness to your home, let us introduce you to artist Bea Garding of Bea Garding Schubert ART as she takes us behind the scenes of how she started her brand and some of the songs that inspire her artwork.
How did your brand begin?
My start as an international visual artist was in 2007. Actually, I was painting all my life. I studied Fine Arts at the Braunschweig University of Art in Germany. After my Degree, I travelled around the world for 7 years, on foot. Then, eventually, I settled down in La Palma, Canary Islands, and later on in Mallorca, Balearic Islands.
I ran an art school and started selling my artwork. But my international brand began in Germany where I worked for a local radio station. After 4 years, I quit my job and started a full-time art career, mainly selling online. It was a big risk, but I did it!
Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?
I have taken a clear decision: I aim to create artworks that serve as a carrier of hope. I want to create artworks which fill the hearts of my collectors with joy and happiness.
Where do you draw inspiration from for your designs?
I am inspired by songs and song texts. My series "Heroes” is inspired by David Bowie’s song. I am truly convinced that everybody can be a hero! My series “The show must go on” is inspired by Freddie Mercury. The show is used as a symbol of life, and life is to be enjoyed. The "All you need is love" series is inspired by John Lennon's and Paul McCartney's lyrics.
How are your products made?
My paintings. skateboards and heart sculptures are painted with high-quality acrylic paint, neon pastels, and acrylic ink. All artworks are varnished for protection against UV light.
Have you won any awards for your work?
Yes, I am so proud of my First Prize Winner in The Holy Art Gallery in London in 2021. In 2018 I was selected to spend 10 days in Vitebsk in Belarus for an artist's residency. The Chagall Museum in Vitebsk holds some of my paintings, as does the Germany Embassy in Athens.
How do you want someone to feel when they wear/use your designs?
I want to spread positivity. Dreams should become reality. I am a dreamer, believing in a better world.
Do you have any exciting future plans and where do you see your brand in 5 years?
I would love to attend personally an important art fair in Los Angeles or Miami. My artworks are represented by gallery owners at The Other Art Fair London; Art Fair SIAF in Shenzen, China; Art Expo, New York, etc. But I would love to attend personally to have closer contact with my collectors.
Who is your favourite artist?
My absolutely favourite artist is the German painter Gerhard Richter. I love his squeegee practise. Richter said, "Art is the highest form of hope." He believes in art's place within human optimism and endeavour.
