How did your brand begin?
Sirokoru is a small family business based in Finland. It was established in 1958 by Matti Hyvärinen who very quickly got recognition all over the world with his designs, and became a cornerstone name of Scandinavian modernism. Today, Matti's great work is continued by his children and grandchildren.
Where do you get inspiration for your designs?
Sirokoru's designs are typically inspired by organic forms seen in Finnish nature. These forms are then transformed to the next level through the design process. The designs are minimalist, leaving only the core idea and feel to them. They have an exquisite finish.
How is your jewellery made?
All our designs are handmade by Matti's son, Tomi, who is a wizard of the lost wax technique. Every piece of jewellery is carefully hand crafted and finished to ensure the highest quality both technically and aesthetically.
How do you ensure your jewellery is ethical and sustainable?
Ethical and sustainable materials and working methods have always been crucial to us. We have even developed our own super high content silver alloy called EcoAct silver. It is free of any emissions that would harm nature. It's a one-of-a-kind product!
How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewellery?
We at Sirokoru love what we do. With every piece of jewellery, we would like to pass on our love of beauty and quality to anybody who wears our designs. We are so happy to receive photos from our customers worldwide wearing our pieces. That's love!
Do you work with any charities?
Environmental issues are very important to us. We work together with Protection Fund for the Archipelago Sea with the aim of saving the Baltic Sea from polluting. We support them with the proceeds gained from our ecological Baltic Sea Collection.
What drew you to JewelStreet?
We have always considered our designs to be universal. At Jewelstreet, we have the possibility to reach bigger international audiences. This is a great opportunity for a small family firm. In addition, we find the website very attractive and easy to use.
