Nordic London Jewellery, founded by Keith Gordon designs and creates beautiful Scandinavian-inspired jewellery - organic and simple designs to reflect the nature, culture from the frozen Arctic to the rugged Fjords, and the peaceful pine shorelines.

Keith Gordon chats to JewelStreet about how his brand was founded, his designs, inspirations and much more!

How did your brand begin?

A Swedish client had been saying my designs had a Scandinavian look about them for some time. On a trip to Copenhagen in 2014, I realised that they did and the Nordic London journey had begun. We launched the brand in 2016 in Copenhagen at the new Nordic watch & Jewellery show.

Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?

I always believe that people are stronger and better when they appreciate each other's culture and values. Nordic London values stand for friendship, sharing and appreciation of our cultures and friendships.

Where do you get inspiration for your designs?

Scandinavian landscapes and seasons are my greatest influences, but I just love travelling to the Nordic & Baltic states and drawing inspiration from the cultures and scenery, from city to countryside, I always feel inspired & creative. Love it.

How are your designs made?

I work in either Wax or Silver to produce a master for an idea, normally I just start with working straight from my imagination to produce the master that is then cast and moulded so it can be reproduced. I never CAD!! By hand and skills only.

Tell us about some of your most inspiring clients, or bespoke commissions.

Every client is an inspiration, especially when making a bespoke piece, to bring their ideas to life is an incredibly lovely thing to do. Whenever someone commissions me or buys a piece that I have designed, it always inspires me to design and do more. I am thankful there have been so many.

How do you want someone to feel when they wear/use your designs?

Happy and special, and also a part of an inclusive world. My designs are all about friendship, so I hope they feel appreciated and special and will enjoy wearing the piece for a long time.

Do you work with any charities?

I organise a Charity Golf day every year to support Cancer treatments at Addenbrookes in Cambridge. We have done 8 now and hopefully, we can do more post-pandemic.

Do you have any exciting future plans and where do you see your brand in 5 years?

I am always creating new pieces and I am looking to do more shows in Scandinavia & the UK in the next few years. I would love to establish Nordic London into a global brand. I see Jewelstreet being a great help with this.

If you could travel to one place in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Tromso in northern Norway. The scenery is just breathtaking, in winter you have a great chance to see the northern lights. In the summer it doesn't really get dark and the natural colours in the sky are truly amazing.

What meal is your signature dish?

I love to cook, I have mastered Yorkshire puddings during the lockdown and you just cannot beat a traditional roast dinner. Just love Sunday in the kitchen, a bottle of red open and cooking food, listening to good music and producing the Sunday best!

Thanks for talking to us Keith!
