Combining the traditions of country clothing with contemporary flair, British luxury clothing brand Teddy Edward was founded by designer Stephen Reeds. From telling us about how the brand started and who played a major influence in its creation, make yourself a cup of tea and read on to learn more about Teddy Edward today!

How did your brand begin?

Imagine being out on your horse taking in the glorious British countryside when inspiration for the best idea of your career strikes? Well, that’s exactly what happened to our founder, Stephen.

He had stopped for a moment to admire the impeccable design of the clothing his riding companion was wearing and wondered if there was a way to combine the traditions of country clothing with the contemporary flair of city attire.
It was at that moment a new luxury British brand was born – Teddy Edward.

Taking design notes from his inspiring horse ride and pairing it with his love of British artisan craftsmanship and over 25 years in the fashion industry, Stephen set about designing an exclusive collection of British-made clothing.

Stephen’s designs have evolved from an initial idea into a brilliantly modern, distinctively British collection of clothing and accessories, which show off his creative style and passion to make luxury pieces that work seamlessly across both country and city life.

Is there anyone in particular who has heavily influenced/guided you as a designer?

It was Stephen’s grandfather, Teddy Edward, who influenced the name and heritage of the brand. He was a fine gentleman, a hero, and a fitting inspiration for a company based on the core values of British quality and craftsmanship.

To live up to the Teddy Edward name and honor Stephen’s grandfather himself, our ethos is simple. We proudly support and celebrate Great British tradition and aim to create key pieces for a new generation of customer who aspires to wear high-quality, luxury clothing with a contemporary twist.

Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?

Teddy Edward has been built on a set of core values:

Designed in Nottinghamshire, made only in Great Britain.

We are very proud to be champions of British manufacturing and commit to only making our exclusive collection of clothing right here in this country. This includes sourcing our high-quality materials and finding fantastic artisans to work with on our products. Not only does this give our brand a truly British edge, but it also means you can be confident of exactly where your new garment was made. We are passionate about our authentically British brand and know you will be too.

Each fabric is personally handpicked from some of the country’s finest manufacturers by Stephen himself. Totally exclusive!

On average, no more than 200 pieces of each design are crafted, so you are guaranteed to be wearing something really exclusive. Keeping our collections limited gives us that elite, upmarket edge, and know that once you start wearing Teddy Edward, we will become your best-kept little secret!

How do you ensure your designs are ethical and sustainable?

Teddy Edward offers an alternative to wasteful fast fashion.

All of our products are made in Great Britain, giving you peace of mind that everyone involved in our manufacturing process is paid a living wage, and the environmental impacts of our supply chain are kept to a minimum.

The effects of climate change are becoming more visible every year and Teddy Edward understand your concerns so, we have taken personal responsibility for the environment and impact of our brand and created our Sustainable Collection.

This exclusive range of clothing is wearable all year round, at home on countryside strolls, on beachfront walks, or down at the pub. All garments in the Sustainable Collection are made either partially or fully from recycled plastic bottles - giving you comfort in knowing that every time you wear them, you're helping keep more plastic out of the landfill.

Sustainable fashion is the future of fashion!

How are your products made?

As you will probably know by now, here at Teddy Edward we are extremely passionate about our British-made clothing.

Unlike many other British brands, we only ever make our luxury clothing collections here in this country, and strive to operate as sustainably as possible to ensure we bring you high-quality yet ethical clothing that will last you year after year.

There are several commitments we make to ensure this can happen:

Our clothes are only made in Great Britain.

We help boost local skills and employment.

Everyone is paid a fair wage.

We go out of our way to avoid child labor and exploitation.

We create exclusive, limited collections designed to last.

We ensure wearing Teddy Edward means you have a lower carbon footprint.

Are there any specific manufacturing/crafting techniques you use?

We work with 32 different manufacturers to make the luxury products that Teddy Edward is renowned for. We have traveled the length of the nation to find the very best artisans, suppliers, and manufacturers the country has to offer.

We utilize the talent of skilled workers in:

London - All our shirts are made by the very best tailors in the capital, lending to each piece a crisp, city edge.

How do you source your materials?

We have traveled the length of the nation to find the very best suppliers.

The Red Rose county of Lancashire is where we source luxurious fine velvets and our special stretch moleskin.

We get our luxurious cotton, jersey fabrics, and cozy alpaca socks from Leicestershire.

Nottinghamshire. a county with a rich creative history, is where our unique high-build embroidery is crafted in a small village in the county.

Have you been featured in any exhibitions?

We were attending many country exhibitions pre-Covid. We are now carefully choosing which events to attend as we come out of Covid.

What music do you play in the studio whilst you’re working?

Definitely a great fan of 80's music. It's always playing loudly in our studio.
