Debuted in 2010, Sandy Leong’s Commitment collection was born from a special bespoke commission she created for two close friends.
Based in New York City, Sandy is incredibly passionate about creating organic, tactile fine jewellery that is entirely sustainable. When two of her close friends came to her wanting rings for their special ceremony, Sandy wanted to create something particularly special. “I wanted to offer them a symbol of partnership inspired by the strength and energy of nature and opted to create bands that bear the distinct striations of the textures in wood grain.”
These two bespoke rings soon grew into a complete unisex collection, with 13 designs ranging from men’s and women’s rings to bangles and hoop earrings. Available in both yellow and white gold, the minimal and understated designs get their beauty from the beautiful textured finish and subtle use of conflict-free diamonds. “Ethically sourced baguette diamonds in unique champagne and natural white hues symbolise the depths of enduring love, while stunning bangles and bold earrings offer an accompaniment for a lifetime of love and happiness.”
The Commitment collection has proven to be a popular alternative for bride and grooms who want a slightly more unique and meaningful wedding band. “The Commitment collection was designed with the non-traditional bride and/or groom in mind. Using texture, width and unconventional stone settings, I hope to have created a look that is alternative enough as the wearer.”
Conscientious of the long term global impact that mining has on our environment, Sandy ensures every single piece she creates is completely sustainable. “I’ve remained sustainable by constructing each of my pieces in 18kt recycled gold and ethically sourcing conflict free diamonds and gemstones. All production is done locally here in New York through sustainable manufacturers who are transparent about their commitment to sustainability.”
“With a focus on sustainability in design and business practice, it is my hope to highlight the importance of transparency in diamond mining, and to also raise consumer consciousness when purchasing pieces that are meant to last a lifetime. I hope that the clientele who wear my Commitment pieces truly feel unique, having opted for a design that is unlike any other, while also making a confirmed commitment to environmental mindfulness.”
