Sandra Anne Pallotta has always been drawn to sparkling objects, even as a small child. When she was finally allowed to get her ears pierced, her mother limited her jewellery to a small pair of studs, which encouraged Sandra to design her own. Loving every aspect of crafting jewellery, from the design to the finished product, Sandra Anne combines precious metals and unique whimsical gemstones to carve artistic and affordable jewellery.
Since no two gemstones are exactly the same, Sandra’s designs are full of originality and character. We chat with Sandra about her journey, her inspiration and what the future holds.
When did you first start designing jewellery?
“I’ve been drawn to all things that sparkle since I was a child. I loved eye-catching, flashy jewellery, but I had a very modest mother and she would not allow me to wear anything of the sort. When I was finally allowed to get my ears pierced, I was only allowed to wear conservative studs and not the hoop or dangle kind that I was drawn to. The disappointment drove me to design the type of earrings I wanted to wear on paper, cut them out and tape them to my ears! So I guess you could say I’ve been designing since I was a young child.”
What drove you to start your own line of jewellery?
“My love for original art was my inspiration for starting my jewellery line. After a couple of other artistic and non-artistic ventures, out of the blue one day I turned to my husband and said that I wanted to start making jewellery. It was as simple as that. I’m a self-taught metalsmith and have learned through reading books, watching videos, taking on-line classes, and trial and error. Being an artist at heart, I’ve always known that I wouldn’t be truly happy until I was designing and making jewellery full time. Making jewellery, to me, is meditative. I love the feeling of accomplishment after handcrafting each piece. Creativity stretches me as an artist and keeps me passionate about my love for my craft. I’m having the time of my life being able to share all of my ideas with the world!”

How do you want people to feel when they wear your designs?
“Many of my jewellery pieces are one of a kind and very unique. That’s how I want my customers to feel. I want my pieces to reflect the essence of my customers’ inner beauty.”
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
“My best design inspirations come to me while I’m sleeping. I keep a sketch pad bedside because so many of my best selling designs have come to me in the middle of the night.”
"Whenever I face a challenging situation, I draw on my mother’s determination. I’ve learned when you have persistence and passion for the things you love, you can make anything happen ."
Who has been the most significant person in your life and how have they influenced your designs?
“My mother was the most influential person in my life. When I was 11 she became very ill and died a few days after my 16th birthday. One thing I always reflect on when I look back is how strong she was while fighting a terrible disease for so many years and her determination to never give up. Whenever I face a challenging situation, I draw on my mother’s determination. Drawing inspiration from my mother has helped me get over the hurdles of many challenging situations both personally and professionally. I’ve learned when you have persistence and passion for the things you love, you can make anything happen.”
Values are hugely important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?
“Two values that are truly important to me are authenticity and honesty. I think in today’s world it’s becoming harder and harder to find. I want the people who wear my jewellery to have a real connection with it and value the authentic handcrafted work that went into it. Sometimes a flaw in a stone or piece of work ultimately adds to the beauty of the work, much in the same way it works with the people we love.”
Are there any clients you are particularly proud of?
“I love my clients who remind me of me when I was younger. Women work harder than ever and it’s still difficult to find high-quality unique jewellery at a reasonable price. It warms my heart that I can help them add to their success in the business world or add to their glam for a well-deserved night on the town!”
What does the future hold for Sandra Anne Designs?
“Although my jewellery line has taken off quickly, I’m not sure I will ever say that I’ve ‘arrived’. I am always pushing myself as an artist and businesswomen and my designs are always evolving. I’m not afraid to take risks and so far they have paid off professionally. I look forward to the future and know that exciting opportunities lie ahead.”
