Whilst visiting a beach a few years ago with her son, Eva Mautner realised that she felt the same way about creating jewellery as she did when she was a child. Born and raised in San Francisco during the 60s, Eva spent her childhood collecting objects that she could transform into jewellery, be it a stone from the beach or bead from her local bead store.
Today, Eva continues to collect beach stones, glass and gems to transform them into rustic, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewellery.
How did your brand begin?
“I was on the beach one day with my son, waiting patiently while he was building a sand castle. I began to dig into the sand and discovered perfectly shaped stones. I suddenly felt inspired to take these beautiful, natural beach gems home and find a way to design the perfect everyday necklace.”
When did you first fall in love with jewellery?
“As a child, I always bought beads. I would sit for hours at the dining room table creating necklaces to give to my mother to wear. I dreamed of my next designs and even made beads from apple seeds and any object I could find. At that point, I knew this was my passion.”
