When did you fall in love with jewellery?
“I fell in love with jewellery the day my mother put anklets on my feet and bangles in my hand. My love for jewellery grew as I entered my teens. My notebook and books were full of design doodles. One day I announced to my mother that I wanted to be a designer. After graduating from my college, I realised I wanted to take up jewellery as a career and after a couple of years my dream materialised.”
What drove you to start Zayn Jewels?
“The driving point that finally pushed me to start my own jewellery line stemmed from a desire of not being tied down behind a desk. Once I got married, I moved to the US and I didn’t want to have a typical 9 to 5 job. I wanted to travel, see new places and meet new people. I wanted to be free. I believe in the adage that if you choose a job that you love, you will never have to work a day in your life. I was always passionate about jewellery and I had dabbled in it before, so I decided to start my own line. It gave me a creative outlet and allowed me to channel my experiences into something tangible. I have been able to proudly launch a jewellery line that embodies what I love.”

How did you get into the jewellery industry?
“I got into the jewellery industry with the help of my uncle. I started my apprenticeship in Hong Kong and worked with my uncle. He helped me develop finesse, which aided me in executing my ideas and create intricate designs.”
How has your childhood influenced you as a designer?
“I grew up in India and my parents, as well as my grandparents, played a significant role in my life. Jewellery was and is such an integral part of our lives, and I remember receiving gifts of jewellery from my mother. She would always buy silver earrings for me and I would change them every day in order to mix and match them with my outfit. This helped me develop a sense of style and also made me fall in love with it. The ideas for the jewellery I craft today were primarily formed while I was growing up and draw a lot of inspiration from my childhood.”
"It can be a little difficult to get inspiration, particularly when your mind is racing, diverted or you are simply tired or overwhelmed. This is why I often meditate."
How do you source inspiration for your designs?
“My studio is where all the magic happens and I often lose myself in my work. Every piece that I craft is a work of art. It can be a little difficult to get inspiration, particularly when your mind is racing, diverted or you are simply tired or overwhelmed. This is why I often meditate. The act of clearing the mind and getting in touch with your inner being is what inspires me to think and create. It helps me to open my mind and to think of out-of-the-box designs.”
Values are hugely important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values at Zayn Jewels?
“Sound business values are very important for the success of any business. Honesty and transparency builds loyal clientele. The second value I believe in is that if you want to be the best, you should give the best. I have enjoyed a considerable amount of success, particularly in having clients who come back to view and make a purchase from my latest collection.”
Are there any clients you are particularly proud of?
“The proudest I feel is when my clients realise the value of our jewellery. Meeting someone who understands the story behind a piece of jewellery is an extremely special experience. I have a client in California and she bought a pair of hoops with pave setting that she adores. I see her wearing them every time I meet her and she is always so happy and looks so vibrant with the earrings. The hoops just add to her charm.”
"It always makes me smile and radiate with happiness from within. You can’t ask for more than that.”
How do you want someone to feel when they wear a piece from Zayn Jewels?
“I want them to feel loved and cherished. My jewellery is designed with those feelings in mind and there is nothing more pleasant than seeing my buyers embody this feeling when they wear my jewellery.”
What’s been the highest point of your career so far?
“The highest point of my career is when a customer came back to compliment me for the jewellery I had made and also to tell me how happy they are to have it. It feels so amazing. It always makes me smile and radiate with happiness from within. You can’t ask for more than that.”
What does the future hold for Zayn Jewels?
“I feel proud of what I have done and achieved so far but I have a long way to go. One of my aims is to give the best in high end jewellery at some of the most affordable prices. We still have a lot to achieve, particularly by educating people about the jewellery that we make and why what we provide is different from others. The knowledge we share is meant to serve and help people make better decisions in order to choose jewellery pieces that they will cherish for a lifetime.”
