After an exciting and successful career working with some of the most prestigious jewellery houses in the world, in 2016 Italian jewellery designer Olga Corsini set up her own jewellery brand. Coming from the Latin herbal name of anise plant (Pimpinella anisum), Pimpinella by Olga Corsini creates designs that are inspired by and reflect the spirit of spices.
From her floral Vanilla collection to her intricate Anise Flower collection, Olga is influenced by spices as she believes that, just like women, they give flavour to life! We chat with Olga about working with the likes of Bulgari, which ring she would never take off and the exciting spice-inspired collections that are coming soon.
When did you fall in love with jewellery design?
“At 8 years old, I used to dabble in creating jewels using colourful beads. However, the matter became more serious when I turned 14. My father, a stone collector, gifted me an 11kt aquamarine and we designed my first ring and then had it crafted.”
How did Pimpinella by Olga Corsini begin?
“I’ve had an exciting career, working for 15 years at some of the most prestigious and world-renowned jewellery houses. Around a year ago, after the birth of my third - and I believe last - child, I felt that the moment had arrived to create my own brand. This is why I founded Pimpinella by Olga Corsini.”

“My first employer - Bulgari, in Rome!”

“Originality in creation, quality in execution and emotion in imagination.”
Where do you get inspiration for your designs?
“Pimpinella is the first jewellery brand that gets inspiration from spices. My Vanilla collection is a sophisticated blend of sweetness, style and femininity, whereas my Anise Flower collection features extremely detailed floral designs.”

Tell us about your most inspiring client or bespoke commission.
“I made a toi et moi ring with two natural sapphires, one pink and one blue (the parents) and three coloured sapphires inside, meaning the three children of the couple. The ring was a surprise, requested by her husband to celebrate the birthday of this happy mom.”
What have been the low and high points of your career so far?
“The lowest has been the beginning, that’s always the hardest part of the journey. The highest point is still to come I hope, but until then it’s definitely been the launch of Pimpinella in the first events in Lausanne, Geneva, Paris and London.”
If you could only wear one piece of jewellery what would it be?
“It’s got to be the first ring I designed with my father when I was 14. It's my lucky, number one piece!”
“I have lot of new collections in mind: coriander, saffron, laurel..."
How do you maintain a good work/life balance?
“I try to spend free-time with my daughter, my husband and my friends, as well as doing sport. Travelling also helps me as it allows me to see things from afar, be more objective and, most of all, meet new people and discover new things!”
What music do you have playing whilst you make your jewellery?
“Classical music or jazz! And maybe a few Italian songs!”
What’s your favourite quote?
“Life is too short to wear boring jewels!”
What are your plans for the future?
“I have lot of new collections in mind: coriander, saffron, laurel... In 5 years, I would like to see Pimpinella worn on several beautiful, contemporary women who are satisfied with wearing unique jewels that match their personality!”
