Designer and founder, Natasha Leith-Smith created Allumer in 2008 after making a present for a friend. Overnight she found herself in high-demand and the brand was born. It has since grown to the award-winning jewellery brand that it is today, offering bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings using precious metals and gems. Countless celebrities wear her pieces, like Fearne Cotton, Kate Moss, Princess Beatrice, Daisy Lowe, Louise Redknapp and more. Allumer has been featured in many magazines, with Vogue, calling Allumer “the Rolls Royce” of friendship bracelets.
Natasha uses the rich colours of Hong Kong’s vibrant culture as inspiration for her dazzling, colourful collections that bring light to the wearer’s life.
How did your brand begin?
Forged from friendship, I made a bracelet for my best friend. It was red-hot, she showed it off to her friends and I was suddenly in high demand over night!
When did you first fall in love with jewellery and knew you wanted to become a designer?
I have grown up surrounded by jewellery. My mother was a gemologist and I spent my childhood stringing pearls for pocket money.
Where do you get inspiration for your designs?
Allumer means to 'light up' in French. I grew up in Hong Kong, surrounded by bustling streets, bright lights and energy so I use these rich colours and vibrant culture to inspire my designs.
Are there any celebrities you would love to see wearing your designs?
We love classic British Design and are inspired by iconic British girls. Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Princess Beatrice all ooze classic British elegance and style. Allumer would be perfect to compliment their day to day looks.
How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewellery?
We want our jewellery to light up the lives of our wearers. Packaged in little matchboxes, from opening the delivery, to wearing their piece of Allumer magic, we hope people feel joy and excitement wearing our jewellery.
What has been the highest and lowest point of your career so far?
The highs and lows all roll into one story with this one. Creating a bespoke commission for Love Island 2018 Winner Dani Dyer, only for her to not wear her Allumer Match as promised on the evening of the final show broadcast to millions.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? (And have you actually used it?)
Never take no for an answer! Persistence is key to achieving your goals.
What music do you play in the studio whilst you’re working?
Like a Virgin by Madonna! We have this on almost every morning in the studio to start the day right.
