EmmaKN Jewellery

Emma Nacht is the talented jewellery designer behind EmmaKN. Originally from Argentina, a lot of Emma’s jewellery is inspired by geometric and arabesque patterns. She has also travelled widely to locations such as Spain, India and Morocco, and these have all been subtle influences in her jewellery designing journey.

Emma now lives in London where she also obtained her MA in Jewellery and Fine Arts degree in Academic History. Working out of a small studio in south London allows Emma to retain her artistic differences. There is strictly no machinery used in her jewellery production. Everything is expertly made by hand, with the utmost attention and love. Since they are meticulously handcrafted, they each have their own imperfections, and are essentially one-of-a-kind.

This is an exclusive snapshot behind the scenes of a luxury independent jewellery brand. When you look at jewellery on JewelStreet, it is so much more than an accessory. Each piece holds its own unique story. Each designer, like Emma, lives and breathes jewellery design. Every essence of her being is injected into each design. This is the kind of rare luxury that is absent from products seen on the high streets.

How did your brand begin?

When my first friend got married, back in 2003, I went out searching for jewellery to buy. After a couple of days looking, I realised that I could find nothing that would be to my liking or style. At the time, I was studying Fine Arts and realised that I should be able to do it myself.

How is your jewellery made?

All of my items have been made by hand by me. Oh yes, I cut out each piece, section and shape myself by hand. No machines nor lasers are used. Making each piece unique and different to the next (in the smallest ways) takes time, but it’s worth it.

How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewellery?

Special. My patterns are unusual to wear as jewellery, and I want the wearer to feel exactly that, unusual and different. I want them to know the hard work has gone into each piece, just like the hard work gone into each individual person. I want them to feel proud to be supporting an independent maker like myself.

If you could only wear one piece from your collection, what would it be and why?

I already do! I wear my Hollow Mirror ring and I also wear other pieces with it. It’s light and easy for everyday-wear or if you’re dressing smart casual, which I usually do. I also get enquiries by strangers, and I’m always asked what jewellery I am wearing and where it comes from. This is because my style is perhaps bit unique and beautifully unusual for them.

Winding down after a day in the studio is sometimes difficult for a designer, what do you do to help this process?

Since I cycle to work, that is already my first step to unwind. I even come up with new ideas by accident whilst cycling sometimes. Fresh air and physical activity is brilliant. I also do yoga, I love cooking and my guilty pleasure is watching tv in the evening.
