Tsai x Tsai is a London-based brand full of Taiwanese heritage. A family-run business, the brand began from a family conversation after a trip home to Taiwan. The family wanted to do something to show the beauty of Taiwan, so Tsai x Tsai was born. Inspired by the people, sea and mountains of Taiwan, Tsai x Tsai want to show that there is much more to Taiwan than meets the eye. The country is utterly romantic, a place for its nature and not just about technology .

The Tsai x Tsai logo symbolises the decorative roof of a traditional Taiwanese building and is read as T x T. This represents the brand’s goal: to bring glimpses of the beauty of their Taiwan homeland to everyday life. Tsai x Tsai are renowned for colourful, minimalist and chic jewellery featuring semi-precious gemstones, that is perfect for everyday.

How did your brand begin?

The brand was started after a long family conversation during a trip back home to Taiwan. I wanted to do something that shared some of the beauty of Taiwan with the world.

Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are your core brand values?

Our design is all about minimalist chic and colour. We use only semi-precious gemstones because of their connection to Mother Nature. We believe in making a statement without shouting out loud – understated design which subtly catches the eye.

Where do you get inspiration for your designs?

The people, the mountains and the sea of Taiwan. I want people to know Taiwan is not just about technology or ‘Made In Taiwan’. It is about the people that create the vibrant culture. Our design is always simple but they always remind me of a piece of Taiwan.

Can you recall a particular moment with a client that will stay with you forever?

We’ve got this lovely couple, whom I know through a close friend. They have been a keen supporter of Tsai x Tsai since day one. It is a great pleasure to be part of my customer’s celebrations – birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries or even proposals.

How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewellery?

Our pieces are designed with an aim for them to wear the pieces daily. We believe jewellery is to be on show instead of hiding in jewellery boxes. We want them to feel a touch of delight every day when putting the pieces on.

If you could only wear one piece from your collection, what would it be and why?

It would be any bracelet from the Taipei Collection! I am a rose gold person with a slightly tanned skin tone. During winter I’d wear Tamsui Blue Topaz Bracelet, while summer when I am tanned, I’d go for Wanli Amethyst Bracelet.

What's the best piece of advice you've been given? (And have you actually used it?)

“Remember to have fun!” A friend of mine said that to me when I was preparing for my first ever pop-up. She reminded me the importance of just enjoying what I am doing. It was a successful event and I did remember to have fun – I had the best time!

What's the biggest style mistake you've ever made??

I asked my partner for his help with this question and he instantly gave about 6 examples, some of them painfully recent!  I disagree with all of them, I stand by my choices!!

How do you ensure you’ve got a good work/life balance?

I am very lucky to have close friends and family that always remind me to make sure I have a good work/ life balance. I also exercise as it keeps my mind empty. I especially enjoy swimming and yoga.

What meal is your signature dish?

Seafood linguine. Two things I cannot live without – pasta and seafood!
