We had just climbed to the top of Huaya Picchu in Peru - one of the deadliest hikes in the world - to get a bird's eye view over Machu Picchu. It was a really difficult climb. We had to crawl through tunnels on our stomachs, walk along trails only wide enough for one pair of feet at a time, and remain mindful of the sheer drop into the abyss beside us. We even saw a bear cub on the way up!

The rain poured and storms raged all morning until we reached the top, when suddenly the clouds cleared and the sun shone through to reveal an amazing view of Machu Picchu hundreds of metres below us.

He wanted to propose there and then, but saved it until we were alone at our hotel room, looking back on our magical day.
