Fashion season will soon be over so we’re rounding up SS20’s best runway jewellery trends. It’s been an exciting month of bold and beautiful fashion statements. From the unique street style jewellery looks from London Fashion week, to the edgy and chic VIP members of the FROW. Fashion-enthusiasts around the world have been on constant watch, eager to see the latest looks from fashion’s elite.

But today we’re looking on the runway. After all, the runway dictates what we wear. Check out our favourite jewellery pieces from SS20 runway shows. From kitschy earrings to chunky chains. See what jewellery you’ll be wearing this year…

Hoop earrings are a jewellery box essential, and Proenza Schouler’s runway show during New York Fashion Week showed us why. Statement earrings were the focussed jewellery look, with models wearing either XXL hoops or ribboned disc earrings in white enamel and gold. A gold hoop earring is a timeless jewellery look. Invest in a confident and bold pair of hoop earrings - they’ll be your go-to this season for an on-trend ensemble.

Messy pearls

Anna Sui was among many of the high fashion houses adorning their collections with pearl jewellery. The soft pastels and elegant silhouettes of Anna Sui’s gowns were enhanced by the feminine and sophisticated aesthetic of pearl jewellery. When styled in messy layered pendants and mixed with other designs such as cameos and coloured gemstones, Sui’s collection had just the right amount of edge.

 Gold everything

Gold is a colour synonymous with the Versace name. Donatella’s SS20 collection opened with three sexy mini black dresses, all adorned with gold jewellery in the signature Greek Key Versace pattern. Many A-list faces were seen on the runway, from Bella Hadid to the iconic J-Lo, who closed the show wearing a reinvented Versace SS00 gown. The whole collection a spectacle of jungle energy, which you should channel with shining gold jewellery this season.

Pop Art vibes

I think we all need to take a moment to applaud Moschino for their unfailing pageantry which never fails to spark joy in the industry. His collection was an homage to Picasso and his muses, the models wore capes, jumpsuits and gowns all handpainted to evoke a Pop Art carnival of fashion. The jewellery was as loud as the apparel, featuring rock-sized gemstones, XXL designs and colour-popping palettes. Embrace the fun with jewellery inspired by the best artists of the twentieth century.

Kitschy cool

Prada’s jewellery was among my favourite showcased over the entire fashion season. Featuring intricate embroidered designs such as fish and exotic birds, the jewellery added an unexpected twist on their endlessly chic collection. Many designers were embracing colour and quirkiness with their jewellery, and Prada was no exception. Find yourself an authentic and playful pair of earrings this season and channel Prada fashion finesse.

We all love a bit of heavy metal. From chunky chains to thick gold hoops, fashion season was an exhibition of bold and brash metal jewellery pieces. During London Fashion Week Fyodor Golan sent some extreme jewellery pieces down the runway with his eclectic collection. From boulder-sized pearls to thick metallic pieces such as the earrings pictured above. Follow suit with some oversized metallic pieces to make a bold statement this season.

Animal Print

At the David Koma SS20 show during London Fashion Week, his models channelled an ethereal elegance wearing jewellery designer Emily Frances Barrett’s butterfly earrings. The earrings represent the emerging trend of animal print designs within the jewellery industry. Unleash your wild side with jewellery that’s inspired by nature and all its beautiful beasts.
