Upon her return to Poland following nearly a decade of travelling the globe, designer Aleksandra Bartnicka decided to take the inspiration from her experiences and share them in the form of stylish jewellery.

Aleksandra only uses 14kt yellow or rose gold for her pieces, designed to compliment your skin tone. These jewels are designed to stand the test of time so you can take your wonder with you wherever you go, all day, every day. Their semi-precious and precious stones are 100% natural, complete with quirky imperfections and unique texture.

Aleksandra wants those who wear her jewellery to be reminded that even the smallest of things can bring them happiness and make them wonder.

How did Wonder Fine Jewellery begin?
I came back to Poland after nearly a decade of working and travelling the globe as a dive guide and photographer. I took the inspiration and decided to share it in the form of jewellery, and after a few years of learning goldsmithing, Wonder Fine Jewellery was born!

Values are really important to us at JewelStreet. What are the Wonder Fine's core brand values?
I want Wonder’s pieces to be timeless in design and quality. That’s why I create only in 14k gold and every aspect of the design needs to serve a function, nothing is unnecessary.

Where do you get inspiration for your breathtaking designs?
I find beauty in single moments of awe, such as when a ray of light shines through the trees or the sound of wind rustling leaves. They can be tiny and yet fill us with such joy. I want my jewellery to capture the feel of something fleeting yet beautiful.

How is your jewellery made?
I make all of the jewellery myself in my studio. The same feelings that inspire designs can be found in actually making the pieces, when polished gold starts to shine and glimmer and the stone nearly comes to life once set in its place.

Tell us about some of your most inspiring clients, or bespoke commissions.
My friends were getting married and asked me to take the Grandmother’s ring and cut it in two, to create their wedding rings. There was only a single attempt possible and my hands were shaking, I was so nervous. It was a success, after I was confident I could do anything, I’m forever grateful.

How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewellery?
I want for them to bring out a little bit of a romantic in the wearer. For them to feel the calm and awe at the wonderful world around us. I want these pieces to be a reminder that even the tiniest of things can bring us happiness and make us wonder.

If you could only wear one piece from your collection, what would it be and why?
Definitely one of the base collection Wonder rings. If I had to choose a specific one it would be the labradorite with its gorgeous colours. Or the green tourmaline symbolising growth. Or moonstone gem of dreamers. I don’t know, they are all amazing!

If you hadn't become a designer, what would you be doing?
I would probably still be swimming around in the ocean!

What's your favourite quote?
“It is a happiness to wonder, it is a happiness to dream” by Edgar Allan Poe, from “Morella” – it’s so incredibly fitting, it just sums it up for me.

Winding down after a day in the studio is sometimes difficult for a designer, what do you do to help this process?
I put on Netflix, either a movie, or one of maybe 9-10 series I’m currently binge watching, and cook something. I never liked to cook, now I somehow find it relaxing. Mojitos also help!
