Posted on

Belgian jewellery designer Julie Nicaisse created her own brand – Julie Nicaisse Jewellery after gaining impressive and valuable experience and expertise, while working for numerous renowned jewelers. Julie draws inspiration for her pieces from the beauty of Mother Nature.

Julie uses the finest metals, traditional techniques, and environmentally friendly methods to create her contemporary pieces. Julie creates one off unique and original jewelry and all her pieces are individually handmade in England. She has created numerous collections, like Animal Prints, Flowers, Found Treasures and Les Milles Plates that have a range of rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and brooches.

Her pieces are crafted out of sterling silver and 18kt gold which she combines with precious stones or recycled material. Her jewelry is timeless and ever-changing, like nature, and each piece is unique, eye-catching and an absolute treasure to wear.

How did your brand begin?

After working many years for other jewelry brands, I acquired the necessary skills to launch my own brand.

"There were always so many jewelry ideas in my head. I just had to make them!"

When did you first fall in love with jewelry and knew you wanted to become a designer?

During the first hour of my first ever jewelry class. I just knew it was my destiny.

Where do you get inspiration for your designs?

Nature! Nature! and Nature. My inspiration is found in the magnificent beauty hidden in every aspect of Nature. I create eye-catching pieces transforming organic pattern, textures, curves and shapes found in nature into to wearable treasures.

How is your jewelry made?

All my pieces are handcrafted in the finest precious metal using ancient traditional jewelry making techniques, making sure the products I use are environmentally friendly. When available, I use fair trade metal or recycled metal.

How do you want someone to feel when they wear your jewelry?

Comfortable and glowing! I want the wearer to be able to move freely without worrying about the jewelry they wear. There is nothing that ruins your day more than uncomfortable clothing or jewelry.

If you hadn't become a designer, what would you be doing?

I studied Fine Arts back in Belgium and I always enjoyed drawing. I guess I would be an illustrator or perhaps a ceramist.

If you could travel to one place in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Thailand, Bangkok! It is the jewelers paradise. You can get very beautiful gemstones there and the jewelry industry occupy a good part of the city. The people are lovely and the food is delicious.

What's your favourite quote?

"Nothing is impossible"
