Pembe Club design jewellery to make a difference. Growing up in Tanzania, founder Yasmine Haji remembers seeing herds of elephants on safari and was shocked when she returned and failed to see a single elephant. The empty vast plains changed Yasmine's perception, and suddenly she wanted to do more than just scribbling out a cheque, but instead went about creating something more enduring and more personal. By replicating the magnificent forms of elephant tusks, tooth and horn in their handcrafted designs, Pembe Club hope to eventually remove the demand for them. Each gift from Pembe Club will carry this message around the world and support a community that no longer desires such a cruel adornment.
Launched in 2009, NYC-based Sandy Leong creates modern and minimalist designs with a conscience.
