Handmade Jewellery in the North Lincolnshire Countryside
Making and designing jewellery is Abigail's blood. Her father is a well established silversmith. His workshop was at the back of their family home. After school each day she would run into the workshop to see what he had been making that day, from intricate cufflinks to large statment centrepieces. By the age of eight Abigail began creating jewellery and trinkets for family and friends. She spent many a childhood weekend in the workshop creating designs and even commissions for her fathers clients.
At the age of 17 she moved from her rural Lincolnshire home to London where she began her studies to become a jeweller at The Goldsmiths Centre on their Pre-apprentice Foundation programme. She completed her year on the course with a Distinction as well as winning The Benvenuto Award for excellence.
She then moved back to her life in the Lincolnshire countryside to undertake a five year apprenticeship with her father completing her apprenticeship in 2017. Upon completion she received The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths Apprentice of the year award.
In early 2018 Abigail Buckingham Jewellery was born. She started making her own jewellery designs and working to commission specialising in bespoke pieces and the remodelling of family heirloom jewellery.
